Description

Greenwood, Ind. – A pair of Angelo State softball standouts – Cheyenne Floyd and Tatiana Trotter – were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team for excelling both on the softball diamond and in the classroom, the organization announced this morning.

Both student-athletes repeat as Academic All-District selections from last season.

To qualify for CSC Academic All-District and All-American honors, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically. They must have a 3.50 cumulative GPA and have played in 90 percent of the team's games played or started in 66 percent of team's games. For pitchers, a student-athlete must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched 35 innings.

Floyd, a master's student in the Coaching, Sport, Recreation, and Fitness Administration program, is a two-time LSC All-Academic team selection. In the circle, the Liberty Hill native improved upon a campaign where she was named the LSC Pitcher of the Year in 2024. Floyd owned a 27-7 record inside the circle with a 1.71 ERA. She struck out 199 batters in 184.2 innings and held opposing batters to a league-best .177 batting average.

She struck out eight or more batters in 11 appearances this season and has thrown two no-hitters. In the postseason, she made six appearances (five starts), striking out 29 batters in 34.2 innings as she helped the Rambelles reach their first regional final since 2018. Floyd threw a one-hitter against West Texas A&M to force a winner-take-all game, striking out four Lady Buffs in five innings.

Floyd was 55-26 at ASU with a 1.96 ERA. She struck out 480 batters, the second most in program history.

For the past two seasons, Trotter, an Intelligence and Analysis student, has been a mainstay in the outfield and the heart of the Rambelles' lineup. She was an All-LSC First Team selection and earned a Golden Glove.

Trotter hit .330 with a .648 slugging percentage and a .449 on-base percentage. She hit 14 home runs and drove in 47 runs. She ranked second on the team in walks and slugging percentage and was tied for the team lead in home runs. Trotter, who entered the regional final hitting 2-for-14 in postseason play, went 3-for-3 with a two-run home run in the Rambelles' run-rule win over West Texas A&M to force a winner-take-all game.

Floyd and Trotter advance to the Academic All-American ballot, with the CSC announcing the Academic All-American teams on June 17th.
