Description

SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The campaign season for police chief candidates will culminate in the City of San Angelo's May 4 general election, when residents will decide who will be the next head of the San Angelo Police Department. In the meantime, campaign finance reports can help gauge several important factors for each candidate.

The three candidates for the 2024 SAPD police chief election — Lt. Mike Hernandez, Sgt. Travis Griffith and Lt. Chris Cimino — all sent in their "30th day before election" campaign finance reports as of April 4. These reports show how much support they have received from backers and how much they have spent while on the campaign trail.

Below is a table depicting each candidate's total political contributions, total unitemized contributions and total political expenditures as detailed in the campaign finance reports provided by the City of San Angelo.

Mike HernandezTravis GriffithChris Cimino
Total Political Contributions$61,180.50$43,969.41$3,173.45
Total Unitemized Contributions$61,180.50$170.47$0.00
Total Political Expenditures$21,676.80$17,699.04$899.38

The dollar amounts aren't the only important metrics to be gleaned from the finance reports, however — the number of supporters can also be discovered. Each report includes a list of contributors for each category, and we've tallied them up to see who has the most backers contributing to their campaigns.
