SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — Although most of the Concho Valley is not in the path of the total solar eclipse set to happen on April 8, those in the area will still get the chance to watch a captivating partial eclipse.

While a handful of Texans will watch as the moon completely blocks the sunlight from shining down on Earth, nearly 97% of the sun will be blocked during the partial eclipse over San Angelo Angelo State University reports. Other parts of the area, such as Menard will see the moon block up to 99.86% of the sun.

Here is a look at when the partial eclipse will begin and how long the first portion of the eclipse is expected to last, according to Eclipse 2024:

  • Ballinger - 12:16:58 p.m., 3 minutes 30 seconds
  • Barnhart - 12:14:09 p.m., 3 minutes
  • Big Lake - 12:13:54 p.m., 3 minutes
  • Bronte - 12:16:48 p.m., 3 minutes 30 seconds
  • Christoval - 12:15:09 p.m., 3 minutes
  • Coleman - 12:17:50 p.m., 3 minutes 30 seconds
  • Eden - 12:16:04 p.m., 3 minutes 30 seconds
  • Eldorado - 12:14:21 p.m., 3 minutes 30 seconds
  • Eola - 12:16:06 p.m., 3 minutes 30 seconds
