SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — A teacher from San Angelo ISD's Glenmore Elementary was recently awarded for her over 20 years of teaching at the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards ceremony on May 5.
During the ceremony held in Houston, Veronica Stapper was given $25,000 and a $25,000 grant for her school after winning the Lifetime Achievement Elementary Award. Stapper was one of two educators to receive the Lifetime Achievement Elementary Award.
According to a press release from H-E-, six teachers, two principals, two counselors, a public school board, two school districts and a childhood facility received a total of $480,000 in cash awards and grants.
Since 2002, the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards has awarded more than $13 million in grants and cash prizes to Texas schools and educators.
"The winners are selected from a pool of 68 finalists by judges who include former winners, school administrators, and university and community leaders," the release read.
