Description

SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — San Angelo Gives is back, and the San Angelo Area Foundation is celebrating the event's 10-year anniversary. Here's how you can give back to your community during a donation extravaganza a decade in the making!

What is San Angelo Gives?

Hosted by the San Angelo Area Foundation, San Angelo Gives is a day-long online event during which Concho Valley residents can donate money for several causes, ranging from major nonprofit organizations to small community outreach initiatives.

"Local nonprofits' involvement in the event will give members of our community the chance to find and support an organization whose mission aligns with their passion," the San Angelo Area Foundation said.

And, as the money has shown, it's a chance the Concho Valley community has gladly taken. San Angelo Gives has raised $22 million since 2015 according to the event's website, with $4.1 million of that amount being donated in 2023.

"We have really seen our community embrace San Angelo Gives and support their favorite causes throughout the years," Janet Karcher, the San Angelo Area Foundation's vice president of community engagement and marketing, said. "Our community has responded with heartfelt generosity, and we have been able to pump $22 million back into community causes."

San Angelo Gives also features a unique prize system that allows causes to earn additional sums of money on top of their donations based off certain criteria, such as having the most amount of money donated within a given set of hours. Sponsored by businesses from across the Concho Valley, these prizes serve as another way to give back to the community by incentivizing donations.

How Can I Give?

While advanced giving opened on April 23, the main event begins on May 7. During this time, you can visit https://www.sanangelogives.org/organizations and select the cause you'd like to give to. Once you find your cause, click on the blue "Donate" button and complete the steps you're prompted with.

Multiple donations can be given to a singular cause by the same donor, though they will all be counted as a singular donation when it comes to certain prizes. A single donor is more than welcome to give donations to as many causes as they like, however, meaning that giving to your heart's content is as easy as a few button presses!

Those who want to watch how San Angelo Gives progresses throughout the day can visit sanangelogives.org and the San Angelo Area Foundation's Facebook page. Viewers can also tune in to KLST and KSAN's live broadcasts to learn more about organizations that will be accepting donations as the event unfolds.
