SAN ANGELO - The Angelo State softball team closes out the regular season this weekend at Mayer Softball Field when they host Midwestern State and top-ranked West Texas A&M. Friday's doubleheader against the Mustangs will serve as the Rambelles' senior day, where they will honor their ten seniors ahead of their final home weekend. 

LAST TIME OUT

The Rambelles extended their winning streak to ten with sweeps of Eastern and Western New Mexico. The Rambelles scored double-digit runs in all four games, capping the weekend with a season-high 18 runs against WNMU. 

RAMBELLES RANKED NO. 7

The Rambelles are ranked seventh in the latest version of the NFCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll, marking their fifth consecutive week in the seventh spot. The Rambelles are in the nation's top ten for the first time since the 2022 season and were in the top five for the first time since the beginning of the 2021 season. 

WATERS NAMED LSC FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

Bri Waters was named the LSC Freshman of the Week for her play in the Land of Enchantment last week. Waters recorded four hits in five at-bats, hitting two home runs and driving in four. She slugged 2.00 for the week to claim the Rambelles' seventh weekly honor this season.

RAMBELLES IN REGIONAL RANKINGS

The Rambelles were among the ten teams listed under consideration for the NCAA South Central regional rankings, released last Wednesday. The field will be announced on Monday, May 5th at 9 a.m. Central time on ncaa.com.

FLOYD RECORDS

Senior pitcher Cheyenne Floyd continues to put her name all over the career record book at Angelo State. The senior is second in program history in career ERA (2.00) and is first in opponent batting average (.200). Her 434 strikeouts for the Blue and Gold are the second most, and her 50 wins are the eighth most. 

SCOTT PASSES 1K CAREER WINS

Head coach Travis Scott won his 1,000th career game on Friday, March 28th, against UT Permian Basin. He is the first coach to win all 1,000 games in the Lone Star Conference. He won his first 101 games at Southeastern Oklahoma before winning the following 912 games at the helm of the Rambelles softball program.

• Angelo State is 41-9 on the season and 32-8 in conference play; the Rambelles are 22-1 at home this season. 
• The Rambelles have exceeded the 40-win mark for the first time since 2018. 
• The Rambelles hit .318 as a team with a .525 slugging and a .420 on-base percentage. The Rambelles average 6.5 runs per game. 
• Six Rambelles are hitting above .300 this season, led by Laylonna Applin's .438 batting average. Applin also leads the team in doubles, triples, home runs, RBI, slugging percentage, and on-base percentage.

• Ashton McMillan is hitting .368 and is tied for second on the team with 43 RBI. 
• Averie Gunther owns a .362 average this season; she has been hit by 16 pitches, the second-most in the LSC. 
• Tatiana Trotter hits .350 this season and is second on the team in home runs and slugging percentage; she is tied with McMillan with 43 RBI. 
• Erin Plunkett is hitting .315, leading the team with 35 walks and 25 stolen bases.
• Carter Smith has recorded three multi-hit games in the last five games, bringing her season average to .303. 
• The Rambelles' pitching staff has a 2.45 ERA and 239 strikeouts in 320.1 innings. Their opponent's batting average is .236 this season.
• Cheyenne Floyd is 22-5 with two saves and a 1.74 ERA; she has 153 strikeouts in 136.2 innings. Opponents are hitting .173 against Floyd this season. 
• Floyd is fifth in the country with 22 wins this season.
• Raegan Sucher owns a 2.07 ERA in 23.2 innings of work, while Bri Waters has a 2.30 ERA.
• Matie Wolkow has nine career saves, one off tying the school record of ten, currently held by Morgan Hill.
• The Rambelles have turned 21 double plays this season, 19th in the country. 
• The Rambelles' .976 fielding percentage is the second-best in the LSC and fifth in the country.
• Abby Brand has thrown out 10 potential base stealers, the second-most in the conference.

• Midwestern State is 19-30 on the season and 16-24 in LSC play; they are 4-14 on the road this season and 4-6 in West Division play on the road.

• The Lady Buffs are hitting .386 as a team with a .682 slugging percentage and a .458 on-base percentage; they average 9.5 runs per game.
• Emilee Boyer is hitting .504 with a 1.038 slugging percentage. She has hit 19 home runs and driven in 83 runs, recording an RBI in 16 straight games. 
• Lauren Granger is hitting .454, while freshman Cadence Colborn is hitting .447.
