SAN ANGELO, Texas – Angelo State pitcher Dax Dathe continues to earn accolades, most recently being named the South-Central Region Pitcher of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, announced Wednesday afternoon.
A Coaching, Sport, Recreation, and Fitness Administration major from Round Rock, Texas, Dathe becomes the first Ram to receive the regional honor this season. He delivered a masterful performance on the road against Cameron last Friday, tossing his second complete-game shutout of the year on just 58 pitches. Dathe allowed only four hits, struck out eight, and issued a single walk—permitting just one runner to reach second base. The dominant outing not only sealed the Lone Star Conference Regular Season title for the Rams but also elevated Dathe to become the conference's only eight-game winner.
The right-hander has been a force on the mound all season, ranking among the LSC leaders in several key categories: ERA (3.50, 4th), hits allowed (40, 1st), strikeouts (76, 3rd), and opponent batting average (.208, 1st).
The No. 1 Rams will be back in action on Thursday, May 8, as they host the Championship Round of the Lone Star Conference Tournament.
