SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — On Tuesday, May 7, San Angelo residents can donate money to over 251 organizations and causes in San Angelo for the 10th annual San Angelo Gives event.

Senora Scott met up with San Angelo Area Foundation president and CEO Matt Lewis to talk more about this year's event.

"It's amazing the charity that exists in our community of all the people that want to support all the many different charitable causes back in our community, record years every year and we expect our tenth year to be no different," said Lewis.

Looking through available information, the San Angelo Area Foundation found that San Angelo sits in the number one spot on a per capita basis for giving. For the 10th anniversary of San Angelo Gives, Leiws hopes that they can beat last year's record by raising a little more than $4 million in 24 hours. At the time of this publication, $1,139,943 had been raised.

In order to donate, visit the San Angelo Gives website and begin your search for any of the 251 organizations or causes you would like to donate to on May 7.

"It's kinda like going to Amazon and shopping," said Lewis. "You're able to pick different things, if there is a cause that really means a lot to you, wether it be the arts or if it's in animal welfare you can look at whatever cause you're looking for and it'll bring up organizations that meet that search criteria."

Once you have selected which causes and organizations you wish to donate to, they will be added to a shopping cart so you only have to enter your information one time, Lewis explained.
