SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The San Angelo Chamber of Commerce Concho Cadre members joined the mayor and San Angelo City Council members for Monday's ribbon-cutting at Mountainview Park in the three-thousand block of Freeland Avenue. The new playground at the park results from a partnership between the city and The Alcohol and Drug Awareness Center for the Concho Valley (ADACCV). The center received a Texas Health and Human Services grant to fund this project.

Trista Vernon, the Community Coalition Partnership Program Coordinator for ADACCV, said, "Funds were passed through to ADAC and ADAC was able to provide the funds to the city to help fund the park."

Mountainview Park was developed in 1977 and has been enjoyed by people for decades. The park had San Angelo's first accessible playground installed in 1994.

Vernon says, "The park needed an upgrade and helping with this neighborhood and bringing the communities together to assist. I know we have the new school that was just built so there were other students that came along, so just assisting, bringing the community together, help build stronger communities."

The new playground is designed for children ages 2 to 12. it provides a safe place for kids to play and interact.

"We just want to bring out families, and hope to bring togetherness and be a connected community," Vernon says.
