SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — A 17-year-old San Angelo man accused of assaulting a guard and breaking out of the Tom Green County Juvenile Justice Center with two other escapees in January has been indicted.

According to Tom Green County's May 2024 indictment report, T'Jon Walker has been indicted on three charges: one charge of unlawful restraint of a public servant, one charge of assault of a public servant and one charge of an escape that caused bodily injury.

The search for the three escapees began on January 8 after law enforcement responded to the detention facility in regards to three individuals assaulting a guard and fleeing the premises.

According to records filed in Tom Green County, surveillance footage showed one of the three escapees locking a staff member in an office. The trio then began to assault a separate female guard, backing her into a corner before continuing their assault and leaving her with "a cut lip and laceration to her left temple." The trio would then take the guard's keys and flee the facility.

The resultant manhunt led to the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office releasing their identities to the public and warning San Angelo residents living in the area surrounding the detention center to stay inside and secure their homes. Two of the escapees, 15-year-old Julian Martinez and 15-year-old Trevon Wyatt, were apprehended the day after the breakout.

Walker would not be found so quickly, however. He would be placed on the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office's Most Wanted list on January 9, where he would stay for approximately 1 1/2 months until his capture on March 4 following the execution of two search and arrest warrants.
