SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — Sensation seekers didn't have to wait until the end of October to get into the Halloween spirit.

Those who were ready for chills, thrills and jump scares found themselves at Fort Concho House of Horrors on Oct. 4 and 5.

Leslie Marshall is the creator and organizer of the Fort Concho House of Horrors, she had an idea to help boost revenue for the fort and brought the idea to life

"I explained that this could be a big money-making event for the fort and we decided to go with it," she said.

"The first year that we did do it was a good turnout, the second year we did it, was overwhelmingly good, " said Marshall.

Fort Concho's House of Horrors now an annual event put together to help fund the historical landmark's reenactments.

Marshall talked about how the House of Horrors has different rooms set up depending on a fear level and how scared you get with different themes.

The strategic built maze was filled with handmade props, donated and created by volunteers.

"For instance, the meat grinder, what would you need for a meat grinder, well an old ice chess, right?" said Marshall. "And the head on a spinning motor makes it look like it's going down the grinder."

Marshall said once the sun goes down and the people start showing up that is when It's time for the best part.

"Scaring them, that's the favorite part," she said. "If I can scare you then it makes me happy, I did my job."

The House of Horrors took place at the Quartermaster Building on Oct. 4 and 5, from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. and was open to anyone six-years-old and older.

Tickets were $12, or $10 for Fort Concho members (with ID), and free for kids under six with a general admission ticket.
