Description
SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The Angelo State University will present "Melodies of Majesty," its first concert of the fall 2024 season, on Oct. 3.
The concert will begin at 7 p.m. in First Presbyterian Church, located at 32 N. Irving St. in downtown San Angelo. The event is free and open to the public.
Three featured soloists will join the ASU Symphony Orchestra: Dr. John Irish of the ASU music faculty on trumpet, adjunct faculty member Dr. Louellen Meyer on organ, and Lauren Ochoa, winner of the 2024 ASU Concerto Competition on clarinet.
The program will include the following musical works:
- "Prayer of St. Gregory" by Alan Hovhaness
- "Adagio" by Tomasso Albinoni
- "Symphony No. 40 in G minor, K. 550" by W.A. Mozart
- "Clarinet Concerto in A major, K. 622" by W.A. Mozart
The ASU Symphony Orchestra includes about 50 student musicians and is directed by Dr. Fagner Magrinelli Rocha, associate professor of music.
