PORTALES, N.M. – The Angelo State track & field teams concluded day one of the 2025 Lone Star Conference Outdoor Championships with three individual champions as the 12th-ranked Rams and 16th-ranked Rambelles are both currently in second overall.

 

The Rambelles collected 53 overall team points on the first day while the Rams earned 35.50 points.

 

Marie Schuler won the individual title in the women's hammer throw, tossing a mark of 61.32m (201-2) which set a new meet record and improved on her previous ASU record that she set earlier this year. She now ranks second overall in Division II this season.

 

Winning the women's pole vault was Kylyie Paden who cleared a height of 3.80m (12-5.5) to five the Rambelles their second individual title of the meet.

 

ASU also took silver in both events as Camryn Barros earned a mark of 3.65m (11-11.75) in the pole vault and Esma Pajt threw 54.28m (178-1) in the hammer. Kamryn Williams also earned point in the hammer, taking fourth overall with a throw of 52.01m (170-8).

 

The Rambelles had three athletes earn points in the triple jump as Kylie Frush (11.87m | 38-11.25) finished fourth, followed by Maggie Morales (11.68m | 38-3.75) in fifth, and Gracie Stephens (11.65m | 38-2.75) in sixth.

 

After day one of the heptathlon, Frush is currently in fourth overall with a point total of 2,867 while Stephens is in fifth with 2,716 points.

 

In the prelims, Maricia Spence turned in the top time in the 100m hurdles, running a time of 13.98.

 

On the men's side, Josh Body was the individual champion in the triple jump, earning a mark of 15.54m (50-11.75) which moves him up to sixth overall in Division II this season.

 

Oleg Ananev finished second overall in the men's pole vault, clearing a height of 5.26m (17-3) while Pacer Hill finished fourth overall at 4.86m (15-11.25) and Mark Burdin took sixth at 4.44m (14-6.75).

 

In the men's hammer throw, Luis Campos-Mendoza finished fourth overall with a toss of 51.81m (170-0) followed by Cole Paxton in fifth with a throw of 50.96m (167-2) and Kobi Valchar in eight at 47.90m (157-2).

 

In the prelims of the men's 200m, Solomon Odonkor won his heat with a time of 21.29 to advance to the finals while Burdin also advanced to the finals of the 110m hurdles with the sixth best time of 14.59.

 

Day two of the championship meet will begin tomorrow with the heptathlon resuming at noon while field events begin at 4:30 p.m. CT, and running events at 7:30 p.m. CT.
